Yeah, this is a huge topic. For sure it would be better to have the first page with explanations/table and then when the new drivers appear, just to update the OP..

Can you or anyone explain what are all those FFxx series how many of them exist in all total & what are the usage of having so many different FFxx? I mean a good chart mentioning all along with the ALC codec best compatibility should have been pinned at top for ease of convenced for all.
That is a good idea... I second this request for a chart...

these FFxx releases only apply to standard/legacy HDA drivers
UAD/DCH drivers have no FFxx designations
edit - also there were once FF02, FF05, FF0F & FF11 versions mentioned by ex58 but were discontinued a few years ago
----
this just in - v6.0.8947.1 UAD (driver date 5/05/2020) from Hewlett-Packard (posted 6/4/2020) ( release notes )
sp104060 ( http link ) ( ftp link )
well SM-003 since you can not use 8940 HDA from the sp103828 package from HP, you CAN use this newly released 8940 HDA FF04 driver from MS Update which is generic - ( 148.9mb cab download )
-generic hdxrt.inf file included in this 8940 hda cab package - this one can only be used on 64bit Win10 as it's WHQL for Win10 x64 only and non-WHQL (unsigned) for any Windows version before Win10
